Parties are an exciting time in any household. At Fun in the Sack® we aim to provide you DIY entertainment that's packed full of FUN and ACTIVITY making sure everyone is happily exhausted at the end of the day.

Jelly Bean Guess
Fill a jar with Jellybeans and when each guest arrives, they have to guess how many there are. The person with the closest guess wins the whole jar to take home. Don’t announce the winner until the end of the party. This will keep kids busy while waiting for everyone to arrive. Have a pad ready for everyone to write their guesses on.
Change this game to incorporate your party theme e.g. for a Pirate Party, put gold coins in a box and call it “Treasure in a Chest”, for a Princess Party call it “Gems to Spend” and for a Fairy Party call it "Guess the Fairy Dust Weight". For this you could use sherbet
Forbidden Word
You will need a packet of plastic coloured pegs. Pin 2 pegs onto each guests clothing. Choose a word that relates to the theme of your day. The object of the game is to collect as many pegs as possible. The rules of the game are no one is allowed to say the ‘Forbidden Word’. Players must try and trick each other with questions. Anyone who answers with the ‘Forbidden Word’ must hand over 1 peg
Depending on age, this game can be played within a time frame or over the duration of the whole party. The person with the most pegs at the end WINS.
Who Am I?
You need to choose a theme for this game, such as Rock n Roll, Sports, Princesses, Animals etc. Place a sticker on the back of each guest as they arrive.
The object of the game is for each player to correctly guess who or what they are. Players can ask as many questions as they like, however the only answer that can be given is a YES or NO.

All of the following games are based around using the Fun in the Sack® Game Pak Products along with the Fun in the Sack® Race Track and/or Finish Line. Basic Instructions are included with all games.
Egg & Spoon Race
Variation 1: Start the relay and then as the children begin racing with the eggs to their other team members shout out “spin” “hop” “walk backwards” or “walk like a chicken”. The children then have to perform this action while racing. Change the actions as much as you like.
Variation 2: Add obstacles to increase the difficulty and skill level of this game
Wooden Spoon 3 Minute Relay
You will need Two Bowls, Popcorn kernels, Paper Bags and Wooden Spoons. The object of the game is to see who has the biggest hill of popcorn in 3 minutes.
For each team place a bowl filled with popcorn kernels at the starting line. Then place a paper bag at the end of your race track. When the race begins, the first person on each team uses their Wooden Spoon to scoop up the popcorn kernels from his teams bowl and races off to dump them in their teams bag. The player returns to the start passing his spoon to the next player, who follows suit, and so on. After 3 minutes, the team with the most popcorn kernel in their bag WINS.
Egg Derby
All you need: Wooden Eggs & Spoons. Each contestant must use their Wooden Spoon to roll the egg to the finish line. Not quite as easy as it sounds… with the eggs odd shape, it has a tendency to wobble and weave everywhere but where you want it.
This is a great option for the little ones who have less co-ordination skills.
Balloon Sandwich
A great team work game, that works off the theory; two backs are better than one. All you need are balloons (Not helium ones). The rules are NO HANDS!
Have contestants choose partners and line them up back to back on the start line. Place a balloon between their backs. They must hold it between their backs and not let it fall to the ground. At the sound of the whistle, the pairs must take off in this position, making their way to the finish line. If the balloon pops or drops, they must return to the starting line for a replacement. The first sandwich to cross the line wins.
Variation 1: For hot days, fill the balloons with water, however you will need to make sure you have plenty of spares at the start line.
Rainy Relay
The point of this game is to get soaked. You will need: Teams with an equal amount of player on each side. 2 buckets for each team, one empty and one full of water. For each team, a plastic cup with 3 holes punched into the sides
Rules; No covering holes on the cups.
Provide each team with one empty and one full bucket, as well as a plastic cup. Set the empty buckets at the finish end of you race track and the full ones at the start end. When the whistle blows, the first player on each team dips his cup into the water bucket filling it. The player then holds it over their head as they dash to the other end of the track. When player reaches the second bucket, they pour what is left in their cup into it. Player then runs back to the start and passes the cup to the next player. This continues until all the water is emptied out of the first bucket or time is up. The team with the most water in the second bucket WINS.
Variation 1: Add obstacles to make the game more difficult and also funnier.
Variation 2: Using 2 cups for each team, attach a rubber band to the bottom of the cups. The cup then slides onto the player’s feet. Have another team member fill the cups with water. Same rules apply as for above.
Clown Relay
Contestants race to outfit themselves in the latest in clown fashion. You will need a set of clown-wear for each team.
At the finish line place two similar clown costumes that include giant shorts, suspenders, a jacket, a hat and biggest pair of men’s shoes you can find. Divide players into relay teams positioned at the starting line. At the sound of the whistle, the first person from each team runs and puts on the gear (over their clothes), runs back, strips and tags the next player, who puts on the outfit and runs and touches the finish line and so on. The team to complete the relay first is the WINNER.

Hot Potato Pants
This is a hilarious kid party game when played by both boys and girls – adults love it too!
Before the party, collect together a variety of clothes such as hats, dresses, shorts, frilly tops, cloth nappy and so on, and place them all in a big bag. Sit everyone in a large circle and as the music plays, they have to pass the bag around like a hot potato. As soon as the music stops, the person left holding the bag has to put his hand in (no peeping) and pull out an article of clothing, which he/she then has to put on. The game carries on till all the clothes are finished and the prize goes to the one voted as the funniest dresser. Have your camera ready for this one!
Musical Chairs
For this classic kid activity, use either chairs, cushions, hand towels, small pillows, flat - folded paper bags (that can be cut into a shape and decorated to fit a certain party theme-for example, a lily pad, island or treasure map for a pirate party, dinosaur eggs... etc.).
Put out enough chairs for all the players less one. The kids dance and move about as the music plays, and when it stops they scramble for a chair. After each round, the player that did not find a chair must sit out. A chair is removed until finally there is just one left.
Animal Charades
Start by collecting pictures of animals, cut them out and place in a bowl or hat. Toss them around to mix them up. Have one player pick a picture out of the hat or bowl but not show it to anyone. Then, that child gets to pretend to be that animal. The rest of the players guess who the child is pretending to be. Then, it's the next child's turn!
Variation 1: For older groups, act out the name of a film, television show, a play or book. They then show by holding up the appropriate number of fingers for how many words are in the title. The audience has to guess the title being acted out. The game is more exciting if a timer is set and teams try to guess the act fastest.

Kids Parties are a time for celebrating and fun. They can be flamboyant or low keyed, with lots of friends or family only. They can be expensive or low budget, either way they can always be fun, entertaining and a success. The key to a successful and stress free party is in the planning and the entertainment you choose will depend on your budget.
You can choose to hire entertainers where everything is tailored to suit your needs, the age and size of your group. You can choose to do it all yourself or a mixture of both. You may also like to look at party venues where everything is also tailored to suit your requirements, giving parents a chance to take time out with one another.
I particularly like a home or park party where everyone gets to be involved and enjoys the excitement of the kids. Deciding on the theme of your party first will help with the planning and decision of which games and activities that you will choose. With a little creativity, most games can be altered to work with the theme of your party and will keep the kids smiling and entertained.
Fun themes can be anything from a Princess or Pirate Party to your child's favourite TV, Movie or Superhero character Party. You can also choose to have a Circus Party, Sports Party, Disco Party, Dress up Party, Glamour Party, Farm or Zoo Party, Colour Party, Pool Party or even a Sleepover Party. The choices available are endless and with access to the internet you can find a wealth of information that will help you to come up with ideas.
Change the names of your games to suit your themes even change the way you present the game for example if your theme is an Animal Party and one of your games is a Bean Bag Toss. Substitute the Bean Bags for Rubber Ducks. Make different size shapes out of cardboard to look like a pond or nest and call it 'Duck Toss'.
The age of the kids, depends on the games that you will choose. There are so many games that can be used across a wide variety of ages; it is just a matter of increasing or decreasing the level of difficulty to suit the age group.
So with the age group 1 – 8 years in mind here are some party game suggestions that can be implemented at your next party.
This is a party that is more for the parents in the celebration of the 1st birthday milestone than for the child, therefore keep it simple.
Create a Time Capsule that guests can place a special note in. Provide a list of topic starters to make it easy such as 'My Hopes for you are…', 'May your Dreams….', 'I Love you because…', 'How you have touched my life' etc. Seal the capsule and store away safely to be opened on her/his 18th birthday. This is also a perfect way for out of town relatives to participant.
Use a Bubble Machine and see who can pop the most bubbles. Blow bubbles and see who can blow the biggest or smallest. See who can catch bubbles on their wand.
Have a Basket of Toys for little guests to play with.
Sidewalk Chalk – Give children large sticks of chalk and let them draw on the footpath, patio
or driveway. This can be a little messy but is easy to clean up with a hose or mop.

At this age children are starting to understand the concept of a party. Still keep it simple with short games that will keep their attention focused. Games should be non competitive and easy to achieve. At this age it is all about non competitive fun.
Pass the Parcel – always a favourite. You can have a gift in each layer or just one prise in the centre A Bean Bag Toss game or Ring Toss Game
Simon Says… which of course is easy to change to suit our theme. 'Dora says…' 'Ben 10 says…'
Freeze Dance Games – Play party music and have the kids all dance. Stop the music and everyone must 'Freeze' in that position until you start the music again. Anyone that moves in out. Continue until the last one is left standing.
Prize Walk Birthday Game - Have a birthday prize walk. Place numbers on the ground in a
circle or oval. Start the music and have the kids walk around the circle until the music stops.
Roll a dice to decide which number wins a prize. The child that is standing on the number
that is picked gets to choose a small toy from the birthday games prize box.

Ok at this age, all kids get it. They know a party is about presents, games and fun. You can start increasing the skill level of some games and give prizes to winners to add a competitive aspect.
Sack Races, Egg & Spoon Races, 3 legged races – These are old time traditional favourites that you just can't go wrong with. You can include parents in these races. Have the kid's race against the parents or partner with them, guaranteeing giggles galore.
Musical Chairs – You can substitute the chairs for rubber squares or mats that work with your theme. Make sure there is one seat short of your number of guests. Play the music and have kids walk around the seats. Stop the music and everyone rushes to get a seat. Whoever is left standing is out. Continue until last person is standing.
Limbo - Instead of a pole use something from your birthday party theme: Pirate Limbo - hold a play sword; Fairy Party - hold a magic wand. Start the music and have the children bend backwards and walk under the pole without touching it. After each round lower the pole an inch or two. If a player touches the pole, they are out.
Obstacle Course Games - Make a birthday party game obstacle course throughout your backyard using things like slides, elevated boards, trampoline, big boxes to crawl through and hula hoops to make the course. Compete against teams in this game or against the stopwatch. When they get good at the course make them do it again - walking or running backwards!
Pin the Tail on the Donkey –This is an easy one to match to your theme. Use any character
that matches your theme. Pin the Crown to the Princess, Nose on the Clown, X on a Treasure
Map.

At these ages you can still use any of the above mention games increasing the skill level to be more competitive and difficult, you can also have kids work in teams. These are just a couple of my favourite games.
Mummy Wrap Game - One of the easiest and most fun games! See which team can wrap their mummy in toilet paper first. Divide birthday party guests into teams of 2 or 3 and give them 2 rolls of toilet paper. Let teams decide on who will be the mummy and then race to see who can wrap their mummy in toilet paper the quickest using all the paper. Stock up on paper and play this game a few times switching out mummy's.
Sponge Relay Games - Divide birthday party guests into 2 teams. Use 4 buckets - place two at the starting line and two 30 or more feet away. Fill the farthest buckets with water. Players take a sponge and run to the far bucket, dip the sponge in the water and then run back to the starting line bucket and squeeze the water into the empty bucket. The first team to fill their bucket wins. (Use larger buckets to hold the water first since a lot of the water will be lost as they race back to fill their bucket.) Variation: Race backwards for a crazy birthday party game twist!
Treasure Hunt Games - Birthday party treasure hunts can be played in many different ways.
The main idea of the treasure hunt game is to have the birthday party kids hunt hidden
treasure by using clues.
